"When I smelled Indian Leather, it was quite intriguing because it really made me think of northern India, with something powdery, voluptuous. To those cities where the scents of flowers, spices, and incense are everywhere. I have always been sensitive to scents, they accompany me every day, and working on a fragrance, representing it in images, seemed obvious to me. I proceeded instinctively, with the desire to replay motifs often seen when wandering in India, like the floors, bricks, mats, the carpets on which merchants sit, bringing them closer to very strong symbols with the presence of animals, the Taj Mahal... and lingering on the rendering of each drawing to give a lush effect."

Graduated with a master's degree in design from the Beaux-Arts de Rennes in 2015, Marie Marcell completed her training at the Duperré fashion school in Paris. After working alongside stylist Manish Arora in New Delhi, with jewelry designer Olivia Dar, and in the ateliers of Yves Saint Laurent, she decided to devote herself to painting and ceramics, nourished by the visions of a tropical childhood in Mayotte. For Indian Leather, she delved back into her memories of India, where perfumes play a predominant role.
